1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your terminal equipment (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. They allow the site to work correctly, remember certain preferences and, in some cases, collect information about how it is used.
By “cookies” we also mean, in a broad sense, similar technologies that involve storing information or accessing information already stored on your terminal equipment: localStorage, sessionStorage, tracking pixels, SDKs and fingerprinting.
The use of these technologies is governed by Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy), transposed in Romania by Law no. 506/2004, and by the GDPR where personal data is processed.
2. Types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary — indispensable for the Website to work. No consent required.
- Functional / preferences — remember options that improve your experience.
- Statistics / analytics — help us understand how the Website is used.
- Marketing / advertising — relevant ads, remarketing, campaign measurement.
- Social media — sharing features and embedded social content.
- Security — protection against abuse, spam and automated attacks.
- Performance — optimising load speed and balancing traffic.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Website to work and to provide the services you expressly request (for example, remembering your cookie choices or the language you selected). They are exempt from the consent requirement under Art. 4(5)(b) of Law no. 506/2004, but must be explained transparently, which we do in section 5.
If you block these cookies in your browser, some Website features may stop working correctly.
4. Cookies that require consent
Functional, statistics/analytics, marketing/advertising, remarketing and social media cookies are non-essential. They:
- are not installed or activated before your consent is obtained;
- are blocked by default on your first visit, through the cookie banner;
- require a clear affirmative action (pressing a button, enabling a toggle). We do not use pre-ticked boxes and we do not treat continued browsing, scrolling or simply closing the banner as consent;
- can be refused as easily as they can be accepted — the banner contains a visible “Reject non-essential” button, at the same level as “Accept all”;
- can be disabled later, at any time, by withdrawing consent.
Withdrawing consent is as simple as giving it, via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
5. Detailed cookie table
The table below reflects the technologies used by the Website in its current configuration (a static site, with no active analytics or marketing tools).
5.1. Strictly necessary (no consent)
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration | Type | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
cv_consent | consvitraliu.ro | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie category choices and proof of consent | 6 months | First-party | No |
cv_lang | consvitraliu.ro | Strictly necessary / preference | Stores the language you selected manually (RO/EN), at your express request | 12 months | First-party | No |
cv_geo (sessionStorage) | consvitraliu.ro | Strictly necessary | Stores the detected country for the session, to avoid repeating the lookup on each page | Session | First-party | No |
5.2. Non-essential cookies (only with consent)
In its current configuration, the Website does not install analytics, marketing or social media cookies. If any are added, they will be listed below and blocked until consent is obtained.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration | Type | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| At present no non-essential cookie is installed. If statistics, marketing or social media tools are added, they will be listed here with name, provider, purpose and duration, and will remain blocked until consent is obtained. | ||||||
The list is reviewed whenever the website changes. We recommend re-checking it periodically via DevTools → Application → Cookies / Storage or with a dedicated scanning tool.
6. Third-party services that may set cookies
| Service | Category | Used? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics (GA4) | Statistics | NO | Requires consent. Recommended: IP anonymisation, Consent Mode v2. |
| Google Tag Manager | Tag container | NO | Does not set cookies itself, but triggers tags that do. Blocked until consent. |
| Google Ads / remarketing | Marketing | NO | Requires consent. |
| Meta (Facebook) Pixel | Marketing | NO | Requires consent. |
| TikTok Pixel | Marketing | NO | Requires consent. |
| Hotjar / Clarity (heatmaps) | Statistics | NO | Requires consent. |
| Embedded YouTube / Vimeo | Social media / functional | NO | Requires consent. Alternative: “no-cookie” + click-to-load. |
| Embedded Google Maps | Functional | NO | The Contact page uses a plain external link to Google Maps, not an embedded map. No cookies are set. |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Security | NO | Not used at present. The form uses honeypot + time-trap + rate limiting. |
| Cloudflare | Security / performance | Not configured by us | If the hosting provider enables it, it may set the strictly necessary __cf_bm cookie, exempt from consent. |
| Google Fonts | Performance / appearance | YES (currently) | Does not set cookies, but transmits the IP address to Google. Recommended: self-host the fonts. |
| IP geolocation API (third party) | Functional | NO | Language detection runs on our own infrastructure; the IP address is not sent to a third party. |

| Live chat / WhatsApp widget | Functional | NO | Not used at present. |
| WordPress / WooCommerce / plugins | Various | NO | The Website is static HTML; there is no CMS or plugins. |
7. How to manage your consent
7.1. The cookie banner
On your first visit, a banner explains our use of cookies and offers, with equal prominence, the options “Accept all”, “Reject non-essential” and “Customise”. Until you make a choice, no non-essential cookie is installed.
7.2. The preference centre
Through “Customise” you access the preference centre, where you can enable or disable each category individually (except strictly necessary ones, which are always active) and save your choice via “Save preferences”.
7.3. Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change your choice at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. The preference centre contains the option “Withdraw consent and delete preferences”, which removes the saved choice and non-essential cookies. You will be asked again on your next visit.
7.4. Deleting cookies from your browser
Blocking all cookies may affect how the Website works.
8. Cookie banner text
Professional version (recommended):
“We use strictly necessary cookies to make this website work. With your consent, we also use preference, statistics and marketing cookies to improve your experience and understand how the site is used. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customise your choice. You may withdraw your consent at any time from ‘Cookie settings’. Details in the Cookie Policy.”
Buttons: Accept all · Reject non-essential · Customise · link “Cookie Policy”.
Short version:
“We use cookies to run this website and, with your consent, for statistics and marketing. You can accept, reject or customise. Details in the Cookie Policy.”
The banner contains no pre-ticked boxes for non-essential cookies, and the reject button is as visible as the accept button.
9. Preference centre — categories
| Category | Default state | Can it be disabled? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Active | No — always active |
| Functional / preferences | Inactive | Yes |
| Statistics / analytics | Inactive | Yes |
| Marketing / advertising | Inactive | Yes |
| Social media | Inactive | Yes |
10. Updates to this policy
The list of cookies and third-party services may change over time. We will update this policy whenever relevant changes occur and will indicate the date of the last update at the top of the page.
